I first decided to make a list of my favorite R/S fics in early 2003 because there just weren't that many good ones out there, and I wanted to keep track of the hard-to-find fics. Now I'm overwhelmed by the amount of R/S being written, and this is not an exhaustive list, even of stories that I like. I'm incredibly fond of first-time stories so they are well-represented.

Ratings: listed if they were easy to find on the fics. Proceed at your own risk.

This series is listed on Gearbox's website as an unfinished series, and apparently it's going to stay that way. I think it is still worth reading; each piece is fairly complete, and as a whole, they present a close look at life as a werewolf and life during wartime that I thoroughly enjoyed.

A post-Trick reconciliation, set while Sirius visits Remus during the Christmas holidays of their sixth year at Hogwarts. I think this story offers a slightly different take on their friendship and relationship; it feels original but still in-character. The quiet awkwardness between Remus and Sirius is very realistic. I also love the wonderful, wintery descriptions.

Asks the question:Why would a sixteen year old Sirius send Snape down a rabbit hole that had a fully grown werewolf at the other end? and provides an answer that I think feels possible and true. I like the way this story gives a short but careful look at all four of the MWPP boys.
